RHS Garden Harlow Carr retains Plant Healthy certification

The garden was awarded the certification, which is developed by the Plant Health Alliance, after an annual independent audit.

The certification recognises the garden’s commitment to maintaining high standards in plant health, biosecurity, and sustainable practices.

According to an RHS spokesperson, the recognition is “granted to organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to protecting plant life from pests and diseases.”

Paul Cook, head curator, said: “We’re honoured to receive the Plant Healthy Certification for another year.

“This achievement highlights the dedication and expertise of our team, who work tirelessly to ensure the garden is not only beautiful but also a safe haven for plants and wildlife.

“It’s a privilege to welcome visitors to a garden where sustainability and plant health come first.”

The certification was a team effort, with the RHS biosecurity team and the RHS Harlow Carr retail team ensuring biosecurity standards for incoming plant materials, while the curatorial team monitored plant health, the events team raised awareness through educational sessions, the nursery team maintained biosecurity protocols, and the plant records team tracked and documented activities to ensure compliance.
