R&B legends Janet Jackson and Maxwell are igniting dating speculation after making a striking appearance together at the 1,500th performance of Cabaret at London’s Kit Kat Club. The duo arrived hand in hand at the Playhouse Theatre, exuding chemistry and drawing attention from onlookers. Janet Jackson stunned in a crisp white pantsuit with her hair in a braided bun, while Maxwell complemented her look in a classic black pinstriped suit. Though the two have maintained a friendship for years, this latest outing—marked by a more intimate tone—has fans wondering if there’s more than friendship between them.

Janet Jackson, who has famously guarded her private life, hasn’t been publicly linked to anyone since her 2017 split from Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana. Maxwell, equally private, has also kept his romantic life largely under wraps, despite being associated with several public figures in the past. Their night at Cabaret, known for its high-end blend of performance and fine dining, only added fuel to the speculation. While neither artist has confirmed a romance, their easy closeness at the event has certainly set the internet buzzing.

4. Death toll from Texas floods surpasses 100; search and rescue efforts continue

The death toll from the catastrophic flash floods that ravaged parts of Texas has climbed above 100, with dozens still missing as emergency crews race against time to locate survivors. Among the deceased are at least 27 individuals, mostly young girls and staff from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer retreat, where ten campers and a counselor remain unaccounted for. In Kerr County alone, one of the hardest-hit areas, officials reported 84 deaths, including 28 children. The Guadalupe River, swollen by relentless downpours on the Fourth of July, rose violently, sweeping away people and homes in its path. “Our hearts are broken,” Camp Mystic said in a statement, mourning the loss of co-owner Richard Eastland, 70, who died while rescuing children.

Rescue teams are navigating treacherous terrain, with forecasts of more rain and flash flooding hampering their efforts. The White House dismissed criticism that staff reductions at the National Weather Service (NWS) affected response times, asserting that early warnings were issued ahead of the storm. “This was an act of God,” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, defending the federal response. President Donald Trump called it a “100-year catastrophe” while cautioning against assigning political blame. Senator Ted Cruz echoed that sentiment, urging unity amid the tragedy. As the state reels from one of its deadliest natural disasters in decades, the focus remains on rescue, recovery, and healing for devastated communities.

Dwight Howard’s whirlwind marriage is coming to an end just half a year after it began. His wife, Amber Rose Howard, also known as Amy, filed for divorce on July 1 at a Georgia courthouse, according to court documents obtained by the media. In the filing, the reality star and rapper stated the marriage was “irretrievably broken” and that “there are no prospects for reconciliation.” She is seeking a fair division of marital assets and property, as well as alimony from the former NBA All-Star.

Howard, 39, and Amber went public with their relationship in December 2023, announcing their engagement in now-deleted Instagram posts. They were officially married on January 11, 2025. Amber, who appeared in Seasons 11 and 12 of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” also released her debut album, Amy’s World, in 2023. Howard, after 18 seasons in the NBA, is currently playing in the BIG3 League. Neither party has publicly commented on the divorce as of yet.
