Once Human system requirements

The Once Human system requirements have always been surprisingly low, considering the open-world aspects and nightmare-inducing boss fights, and not even the latest raft of updates has triggered these requirements to change. Whether you’re returning from a hiatus or taking your first steps in Eternaland, you won’t need a modern gaming laptop or PC.

Once Human has been out for just over a year now, and has quickly established itself as one of the best survival games with a horror twist on Steam. You won’t need anything scary to get the game running, but if you want to challenge the Great Ones and render the Deviants at their best, you’ll need to reach for much more modern hardware, including the Intel Core i5-12400F CPU, which sits on our buying guide as one of the best gaming CPU picks of 2025.

Here are the Once Human system requirements in 2025:

Compared to most modern games, the Once Human minimum requirements are incredibly simple for gamers with older hardware to achieve. This includes the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon R9 270 GPUs, Intel Core i5 4460 CPU, and 8GB of RAM. 16GB is what you’d expect to see for most modern games, and it’s an easy enough upgrade you’ll need to make if you want to escape playing Once Human on the lowest graphics settings.

The Once Human recommended specs require a small jump in hardware, calling for an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 GPU paired with an Intel Core i7 7700 CPU and 16GB of RAM. Next to your average mid-range gaming rig, these recommended specs are hardly demanding, but unfortunately, the developer didn’t outline the performance you might expect to get from them.

The developer did, however, outline the significant jump in hardware you need to make if you want to run the game at a steady 60fps on, presumably, the highest settings the game has to offer.

The Once Human ultra specs call for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT or greater, as well as an Intel Core i5-12400F CPU. If you’re in need of an upgrade, consider checking out our buying guide for the best gaming PC, which has a range of options for every budget.

As for the Once Human download size, you’ll need 70GB of storage space to account for the base game and subsequent updates. An SSD is recommended, so check out our buying guides for the best gaming SSD if you need some extra space.

With an open-world survival game like Once Human, you’ll want every input to be clean and on point to help avoid damage and deal as much of it as you can in both PvE and PvP.
