Lionel Richie was hospitalized in the ICU after performing in St. Louis on Saturday, Aug. 29, with reports indicating that doctors are evaluating the singer for possible slight dehydration. The 77-year-old Grammy winner checked himself into a local hospital shortly after his performance at The Muny in Forest Park, according to TMZ, which first reported the news.

Lionel Richie reportedly appeared to struggle toward the end of his St. Louis performance, with witnesses telling the press that he asked his team to bring him a chair while performing his final song, “All Night Long.”
The request came during one of the most recognizable moments of his set, as Richie continued performing despite apparently not feeling his best. He ultimately completed the show before heading to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Sources with direct knowledge told the media that doctors were looking into possible slight dehydration. The report also said Richie was hoping to be discharged Tuesday.
At this stage, there has been no public confirmation of a serious medical diagnosis. His current condition and any potential treatment have not been disclosed by his representatives.

The latest hospitalization follows another health incident involving Lionel Richie earlier this summer.
On June 24, Richie cut short a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, after becoming dizzy and feeling unwell while performing. The show marked the beginning of his current tour, and the singer acknowledged his symptoms from the stage.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Richie told the audience he was feeling dizzy and noted that he had never previously performed “Dancing on the Ceiling” while seated.
“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” Richie joked before sitting at a piano to perform “Three Times a Lady.” He later took an impromptu intermission as the concert was brought to an early conclusion.
The singer subsequently postponed two shows after his doctors advised him to rest and return to full health.
Richie Returned to the Stage Days Later
Richie returned to performing on June 30, showing that he was ready to resume his tour after taking time to recover.
During the performance, he acknowledged the concern surrounding his health and joked with the audience that he had “had you worried there for a minute.”
A few days later, on July 4, Richie also reassured fans in an Instagram post.
“Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love,” he wrote. “I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
He went on to praise the audiences in Pittsburgh and Detroit, describing the performances as an “absolute joy” and saying the shows had created “real memories.”
