1. Actors Pepi Sonuga and Zachariah Rogers are married
Actors Pepi Sonuga and Zachariah Rogers are officially married after a weekend of heartfelt and vibrant celebrations in Tennessee. The couple, who first met in a serendipitous moment on the set of Queens in 2021, honored their love story with two ceremonies, a traditional Nigerian wedding followed by a Western one, bringing together loved ones from around the globe. The festivities took place July 12–13, with events rooted in both their cultural heritages: Pepi’s Nigerian background and Zach’s Southern roots. The celebrations were held at The Brookside in Knoxville and the Nichols Heir Estate in Sevierville, the latter providing a lush, mountain-view backdrop for the couple’s vows.
From custom aṣọ oke garments inspired by a jigsaw puzzle to a romantic Ines Di Santo gown adorned with hand-placed petals, every detail reflected Pepi Sonuga’s signature creativity and personal style. The weekend unfolded with music, dancing, memorable outfit changes, and emotional vows that the couple nearly forgot to handwrite in time. Their ceremony ended with a joyful leap over the broom, a nod to African-American tradition, and the skies, though threatening rain, remained perfectly clear. “It was a moment of teamwork, compromise, and laughter… exactly how we move through life together,” Pepi Sonuga shared. The couple closed out the night with musical chairs, sneakers, and dancing until 3 a.m., a fitting end to a love story that began like a movie and blossomed into something deeply grounded and uniquely their own.
A hearty congratulations to the couple.

South African sensation Tyla and Nigerian Afrobeats heavyweight Wizkid have scored a major international win with their new single “Dynamite,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Official UK Afrobeats Songs Chart. Released just days ago, the track has already ignited global buzz, blending Tyla’s Amapiano roots with Wizkid’s signature smooth Afrobeats sound. The result is a genre-blurring hit that’s being hailed as one of the standout songs of the summer.
The collaboration marks another milestone in Tyla’s meteoric rise, following her Grammy triumph earlier this year. For Wizkid, “Dynamite” adds yet another chart-topping success to his impressive catalog, reaffirming his global influence. With viral moments multiplying and international acclaim building, the track is fast cementing its place as a pan-African anthem and a fixture on playlists worldwide.
3. Writers sue Issa Rae and studio over “One of Them Days”
Issa Rae faces a new legal battle: three screenwriters claim her film closely mirrors their 2020 script, ‘One of Those Days.’ Full breakdown: https://t.co/Cbuz0QWYbz pic.twitter.com/oOxnZ71xs1

Issa Rae and her production company, ColorCreative, are facing legal trouble as three screenwriters have filed a lawsuit alleging that her hit film, One of Them Days, is a direct copy of their original screenplay. Filed on July 30, the suit, brought by writers Tyrone Perry, Shon Oku, and Joshua Isaacson, names Rae, Sony Pictures, TriStar, and screenwriter Syreeta Singleton, claiming the film shares “29 similarities” with their unproduced script, One of Those Days, including plot structure, character arcs, and overall tone. The writers enlisted veteran screenwriter John Brancato (Terminator 3, Catwoman) to evaluate both projects; his analysis reportedly found the similarities to be “substantial.”
The trio alleges their script was first shared outside their circle in 2023, including a submission to producer Xavier Charles, who previously worked on Rae’s HBO series Insecure, before the project was ultimately passed on. Meanwhile, One of Them Days debuted in January to box office success, earning $50 million domestically off an $11.8 million opening. With a sequel recently greenlit and the original creative team set to return, the legal battle could cast a shadow over what had been a clear win for Rae’s growing cinematic footprint. The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial, attorney’s fees, and unspecified damages.
4. Trump attacks Charlamagne Tha God after radio host criticizes his presidency

On Sunday, President Donald Trump lashed out at radio personality Charlamagne Tha God following critical remarks the broadcaster made during an appearance on “My View with Lara Trump.” Responding on Truth Social, Trump dismissed Charlamagne—whose real name is Lenard McKelvey—as a “dope” and a “racist sleazebag,” claiming the host “knows nothing about me or what I have done.” Trump also took issue with Charlamagne’s professional name, writing, “Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?”
The clash came after Charlamagne criticized Trump’s presidency, saying, “The least of us are still being impacted the worst,” and condemned the president’s tax policies and efforts to cut Medicaid. He also speculated that traditional conservatives might use renewed scrutiny around the Jeffrey Epstein case to challenge Trump’s grip on the Republican Party. “I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back,” Charlamagne said, referencing Trump’s refusal to release Epstein-related files. The comments touch a nerve for Trump, as the Epstein case continues to stir controversy among MAGA supporters amid the Justice Department’s decision not to release additional documents.
5. Sha’Carri Richardson arrested for domestic violence at Seattle Airport

Olympic gold medalist Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested over the weekend at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport following an alleged altercation with fellow sprinter and boyfriend Christian Coleman. According to the Associated Press, Richardson was detained on a fourth-degree domestic violence offense on Sunday evening and booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) in Des Moines, Washington. She was released the following afternoon.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic disturbance observed by TSA officials. Surveillance footage cited in the police report shows Richardson grabbing Coleman’s backpack, obstructing his movement, and shoving him into a wall. She also appeared to throw an object, possibly a pair of headphones, at him. Despite the altercation, Coleman declined to press charges and expressed support for Richardson afterward. “I don’t feel as if she should have been arrested,” he said. “She’s a human being and a great person.” The arrest comes just weeks before the World Championships, where Richardson is set to compete in the 100m but narrowly missed qualifying for the 200m by one-hundredth of a second.
