A second-half penalty from Ollie Pearce, taking his tally to 25 in all competitions, gave York the three points in their furthest away match of the season at Huish Park.
There are still improvements to be made believes Hinshelwood, after City struggled to work opposing goalkeeper Aidan Stone for large parts, similarly to their matches against Altrincham and Forest Green Rovers in recent weeks.
Hinshelwood now wants the standards to be raised again by his players after returning to winning ways, also speaking on a tactic employed by opposition manager Mark Cooper, as Yeovil refused to water their pitch in order to make the playing surface more bobbly.
“It was hard-fought, I think it’s the ultimate compliment when the home team does nothing to their pitch, no water on it,” Hinshelwood reacted.
“They want to try and make it as bouncy and as tough to play on as possible, so that’s a compliment.
“We dealt with that in possession, but I’ve just said to the lads in there that our demands have got to go up a little bit.
“I think that we’re better than a 1-0 Ollie Pearce penalty in games like this, so we’ve got to find a way.
YEOVIL TOWN 0-1 YORK CITY:
“Whether it’s an extra pass or more movement in the final third, we’ve got to find a way to win games like this, on this bobbly surface, find a plan B.
“In the first-half there were too many diagonal passes, we were working the ball from side to side and we’ve got to be better, we’ve got to have more demands of ourselves.
“For the amount of football we have, ultimately we’ve got to work the goalkeeper more and create more chances.
“That’s definitely something for us to work on.
“In the last nine games we want to keep on improving and be better, try to find ways that we can create more chances and work the ‘keeper more.”
Yeovil were surprisingly defensive on their home patch, having not registered their first attempt on goal until the 49th minute – which was an effort which rose far over Harrison Male’s goal.
Hinshelwood admitted that he saw it as a compliment that Yeovil put in a cautious performance against his City side, but also understands why they chose to take such an approach after recent results.
The York manager added: “I think it’s a compliment to the group of players we’ve got.
“You sometimes see those sort of performances at our place, it was almost like an away performance from them.
“They’ve shipped a lot of goals so they will have wanted to keep it tight at the back, when it’s like that you’ve got to be patient.
“Like I say, I think we’ve got to be better with more movement and working the ball into better areas.”
Pearce’s penalty in the 57th minute took his tally to the season for 25, 23 of which have come in the National League.
Similarly to previous penalties the striker has taken, Hinshelwood couldn’t bare to watch from the sidelines as Pearce powered home the strike.
“No, I faced the other way and watched the reaction from the bench.
“I was obviously delighted when they were jumping up!
“He’s done it time and time again for me as a manager, and I think that’s now 23 league goals. That’s some tally.
“I’m really pleased to get back to keeping clean sheets, that’s 16, 17 we’ve kept now which is a really good return.
“We just want to keep on improving, be solid and put more demands on ourselves to create more as well.”
