Channel 4’s Patience to begin filming again in York

Patience, a Channel 4 drama set in York, has returned to the city this week to film the second series of the show.

Filming is due to start at York Minster tomorrow (Wednesday, June 18).

The drama follows Patience (played by Ella Maisy Purvis), a young woman with autism who works in the criminal records department for ‘City of York Police’.

In a letter to residents, Eagle Eye Drama, the company behind the show, has said filming will take place for around 10 hours at the Minster starting outside the ancient cathedral’s West Entrance at 7.30am tomorrow.

Film crews will then move to Precentors Court – where the show’s on screen lead, Patience, lives – from 10.30am to 1pm, then end the day in Deans Park by 3pm.

Filming for Patience at Prescentor’s Court opposite York Minster last year In Precentors Court, filming will involve the actors going in and out of a property with the road blocked until 1pm.

Deans Park will remain open to the public during the filming, but people will be asked to walk around an area where a character will be sat on one of the benches, Eagle Eye Drama said.

During filming, temporary traffic control will be in place in Duncombe Place and High Petergate between 7.30am and 8.30am with traffic only held for two minutes at a time.

The letter also stated that the scene will involve fake police vehicles.

The first series of Patience, which premiered on January 8 of this year, was the biggest drama of the year for Channel 4 with an average of 4.2 million viewers per episode.
