Davido’s “Offa Me” + More New Songs By Black Artists

Every week, new music arrives like waves. Some barely ripple, while others crash with unforgettable force. This week, however, the soundscape is nothing short of electric, buzzing with fresh releases that explore themes of love, resilience, ambition, and cultural pride. Leading the charge is Davido’s emotionally charged “Offa Me,” a standout collaboration with Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Victoria Monét. Pulled from Davido’s newly released fifth album, 5ive, the track seamlessly blends Afrobeats with lush R&B inflections. The result? A soulful, genre-bending anthem that showcases Davido’s artistic evolution, while Monét’s ethereal vocals elevate the song to a whole new level.

Then, across the Atlantic, Leon Thomas joins forces with Halle on “Rather Be,” an R&B slow-burner that feels tailor-made for late nights and candlelight. Vulnerable, raw, and exquisitely performed, it’s a powerful reminder that heartfelt storytelling is still alive and well in the genre. But Leon and Halle aren’t the only ones making waves. In just a few days, listeners have been treated to a stunning mix of tracks that bridge continents, shift moods, and blur genre lines. From the fiery intensity of Nigerian rap to the introspective pull of conscious soul, here are the releases shaking up the music scene this week.

Check out the top 5 trending new songs by Black artists released this week…

#1. Davido ft Victoria Monét – Offa Me

Davido continues to cement his status as one of Afrobeats’ global heavyweights with “Offa Me,” a standout gem from his newly released album, 5ive. The track unfolds as a slow-burning, emotionally rich groove where themes of vulnerability, connection, and longing take center stage. Davido’s signature mix of streetwise charisma and emotional honesty shines through, pulling listeners into a confessional space that feels both intimate and universal.

Enter Victoria Monét, whose velvety vocals offer a soulful counterpoint. Her presence on the track isn’t just a feature—it’s a conversation. She responds with quiet strength and romantic yearning, gliding effortlessly across the lush production and deepening the song’s emotional texture. Together, Davido and Monét create a push-pull dynamic that feels like two hearts in negotiation. Sonically layered and deeply felt, “Offa Me” is a testament to the magic that happens when Afrobeats meets R&B at its most soulful.

#2. Leon Thomas ft. Halle – Rather Be

On “Rather Be,” Leon Thomas dives headfirst into a deeper, more introspective lane, delivering an R&B ballad that aches with vulnerability. From the opening line—“I’d rather be alone than in a broken home”—the emotional stakes are clear. The song casts a melancholic spell that lingers long after the last note, thanks in no small part to Halle’s hypnotic presence.

The production channels classic soul sensibilities, layering in subtle funk grooves and sweeping cinematic strings to create a sound that feels both timeless and raw. Halle’s ethereal harmonies don’t just complement Leon’s verses—they wrap around them, adding texture and tension in all the right places. The chemistry between the two is electric yet restrained, allowing the emotion to take the lead. What makes “Rather Be” so compelling is its emotional candor. It’s the kind of track that speaks loudest in the quiet—an anthem for anyone who’s chosen peace over pain.

#3. 17 (Alex Iwobi) ft. ODUMODUBLVCK & Ramz – Hop Out

In one of 2025’s most unexpected musical crossovers, footballer Alex Iwobi (now performing under the moniker 17) makes a bold debut with “Hop Out,” teaming up with rap juggernaut ODUMODUBLVCK and UK spitter Ramz. The result? A bass-heavy, genre-blurring banger that fuses Nigerian street-hop with UK grime and drill, all delivered with an unapologetic edge.

What’s most surprising, though, is Iwobi’s presence on the mic. Far from a novelty feature, he dives into the gritty soundscape with remarkable confidence and conviction, sounding less like a newcomer and more like a rising force. ODUMODUBLVCK, true to form, unleashes his verses with militant precision and an unpredictable cadence that keeps you on your toes. Meanwhile, the beat pounds like a war drum, fueling the track’s relentless drive.

More than just a song, “Hop Out” feels like a statement. It channels the energy of a new generation—one unafraid to blur the lines between sports, music, and identity. In today’s Nigeria, where art refuses to be boxed in, this track is both a cultural flex and a sonic rebellion.

#4. JID – WRK

American rapper JID takes a raw, introspective turn on “WRK,” the lead single from his upcoming mixtape God Does Like Ugly. Renowned for his labyrinthine rhyme schemes and shape-shifting delivery, JID peels back the curtain on the emotional toll of relentless ambition. “I missed my sister’s wedding ’cause I had to get this record done” isn’t just a line—it’s a gut-punch confession that lays bare the sacrifices behind the success.

The production, courtesy of PLUSS and Christo, is both eerie and elegant, pairing jittery percussion with atmospheric synths to create a moody canvas. But it’s JID’s performance that commands attention. His flow is a masterclass in control and chaos, ducking, weaving, and lunging through bars like a prizefighter in the ring. There’s vulnerability here, yes—but also a sharpened edge, a sense that the stakes have never been higher.

“WRK” isn’t just a banger. It’s a meditation on purpose, pressure, and the price of greatness. And in the process, JID reminds us that conscious rap can still cut deep and move crowds.

#5. Shoday ft. Ayo Maff – PURR

Closing out the week on a lighter, more melodic note is “Purr” by Shoday, featuring rising talent Ayo Maff. This breezy Afro-fusion jam hits the sweet spot between emotional depth and easy-listening appeal, making it an instant addition to any feel-good playlist. Shoday’s vocals float effortlessly over the beat, relaxed but impactful, with a tone that feels both intimate and effortlessly cool.

Ayo Maff steps in with just the right energy, delivering a catchy verse that adds contrast without disrupting the track’s laid-back vibe. The production is lush and intentional—layered percussion, delicate piano chords, and a bouncy bassline give “Purr” its polished, replay-worthy shine. It’s the kind of song that doesn’t demand your attention—it earns it slowly, play after play.
