Drew Barrymore is able to laugh off one of her most infamous moments.
Chatting with guest David Letterman on The Drew Barrymore Show, the former Late Show host poked fun at Barrymore for recreating the moment recently.
“I was thinking about our very special engagement that we had, and it was 30 years ago this year,” Barrymore said.
“I need to talk to you about something, and I get the feeling I’m at the right place because in my dressing room is a big sign that says, ‘All you need is love,’ and I thought, ‘This is spiritual,’ ” Letterman shared.
“A couple of weeks ago. I think I had a… you ever have a dream that you can’t tell if it’s real or did you wake up? It was more of a nightmare. It was god awful and it scared the… it was very upsetting.”

The “Tivo’d” footage of Letterman’s dream showed Barrymore performing her infamous desktop dance for current Late Show host Stephen Colbert, which she performed in an appearance on the late-night talk show earlier this month.
“The interesting thing about that dream, I think it was born of an actual occurrence in my life many, many, many years ago that I still carry with me in my subconscious and cherish,” he said.
At that point, footage of Drew’s original dance for Letterman, which included a lightning-fast flash, was played.

“There we go, here it comes, yeah, there she is. I kept my top on this time,” Barrymore said, watching along.
“But you know, I’m not angry. I’m just disappointed,” Letterman joked.
During a 2018 appearance on the show, Barrymore admitted that the moment was “like a distant memory that just doesn’t seem like me.”
“And that’s kind of cool. I’m still down with that,” she said, adding, “I’m such a different person now that it doesn’t feel like me, but I’m still into it. You only have one life!”

Barrymore appeared on Letterman’s show 20 times over the years. In 2015, she explained how her 1995 dance was a breakthrough moment in her bond with the iconic host.
“From that infamous show, we developed a really fun chemistry,” Barrymore told E! Online.
“From the moment I went on — especially with my little dance number, which was completely spontaneous and not calculated in any way — he let the audience know it was okay,” she recalled, adding, “He was so accepting of me, and letting everyone know to just go on the ride.”
