Ethique’s Shine Shampoo Bar Gives Me Soft, Frizz-Free Hair

I’ve always had a so-so relationship with my hair. I never thought it was thick enough, long enough, shiny enough—you get the idea. While I have grown out of my insecurities as an adult—love yourself how you are!!!—I still sometimes get a bit meh about my hair. However, I’ve discovered a game-changing shampoo that actually gives me “campaign-worthy” strands (hey, those are my husband’s words!). 

I’ve tried a lot of shampoo in my 31 years. If you look in my shower, I’ll never not have at least four different bottles readily accessible to lather, rinse, and repeat with. The brand has a slew of different shampoo bars for all hair concerns, but the first on my list was the Everyday Shine Shampoo—a safe option packed with vitamin C, vitamin B5, and coconut oil that I felt would address my main concerns of frizziness and dryness. Using it was simple; I just wet the bar and then put it directly onto my hair, as opposed to lathering the bar in my hands and then applying those suds onto my hair. 

So, I did a few scrub, scrubs on my head, then used my fingers to really work it into my scalp. I did this twice (lather, rinse, repeat!), and even after washing it off, my wet hair felt smoother. Not to mention there was zero hair in my drain, which has never happened with my other shampoos. Once it was dry, I used my trusty Tangle Teezer, and to say my jaw dropped would be an understatement. My hair was shiny! My flyaways were gone! Frizz? We don’t know her. My hair was, just as the shampoo promised, soft and shiny. And it wasn’t just me who noticed.

I spent that day running a lot of work errands, and everyone I encountered complimented my “silky,” “luscious” hair—the exact words they used. Granted, the sunlight and my golden hue also played a role, but the shampoo left my hair silky soft, and it showed. But shine aside, my hair also felt thicker and stronger; remember the no hair fall out post wash? That was a big sign. I also felt my tresses had more volume, and when I brushed it throughout the day, I didn’t feel those usual snags and pulls that always make me squirm with worry. 

What’s more, my husband’s a fan. In fact, he uses it every day on his beard, and it’s made it softer and shinier, too.
