Every League One signing so far as Huddersfield Town rivals look to strengthen

It’s already been a busy summer of activity

League One clubs have started to add to their squads ahead of next season.

The summer transfer window officially opened this week, although many sides announced new faces prior to its beginning.

Huddersfield Town got their summer transfer business up and running last week with the signing of Ashley Fletcher on a free transfer from Blackpool.

Here we take a look at the signings that League One clubs have made so far ahead of next term.

Bradford City

The Bantams have signed striker Jake Beesley from Burton Albion, with the forward joining for an undisclosed fee and penning a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old struck 13 times for the Brewers last term after arriving from Blackpool last summer.

Cambridge United

The U’s made forward Callum Stead their first summer signing following their promotion from League Two.

The attacker netted 50 times in 124 appearances across a three-year spell at former club Barnet.

United have also brought in fellow forward Isaac Heath from Everton, who spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley.

Doncaster Rovers

Rovers confirmed two signings prior to the window opening, bringing in James Husband and Leon Ayinde. Husband rejoins the club from Blackpool, after the left-back spent seven years at Bloomfield Road.

The defender had a loan spell with the Terriers in 2016, where he featured 12 times in all competitions. Doncaster have also signed winger Ayinde from Ipswich Town, who has had loan spells with Rochdale and Boreham Wood in recent seasons. Rovers have also taken Alfie May from the Terriers.

Leyton Orient

The O’s have signed winger Tony Springett on a two-year deal following his departure from Norwich City.

The Canaries’ academy graduate made 34 appearances for the Championship outfit, and had loans at Derby County and Northampton Town.

Luton Town

The Hatters have brought in centre-back George Johnston following his departure from Bolton Wanderers.

The ex-Trotters skipper made 191 appearances in a five-year spell with his former side, and captained the club to promotion from League One via the play-offs last term.

Mansfield Town

The Stags have signed former Terriers’ midfielder Jon Russell on a permanent deal, after spending the second half of last term on loan from Barnsley.

David McGoldrick has also joined Mansfield from the Tykes, with the 38-year-old netting 18 goals last season.

MK Dons

Charlie Goode has become MK Dons’ first signing following their promotion to League One.

The defender has joined from divisional rivals Stevenage, where he made 45 appearances last term.

Notts County

The Magpies have brought in defender James Gibbons from Cambridge United, who was voted player of the season for the U’s in their promotion-winning campaign.

Notts have also re-signed Callum Roberts from Scunthorpe United, who netted 20 times for the Iron in the National League last term.

The Magpies have also announced the signing of Max Sanders from Crewe Alexandra, with the midfielder having had two seasons with the Railwaymen.

Peterborough United

The Posh have brought in defender Evan Weir on a three-year deal from Walsall. The 24-year-old made 56 appearances for the Saddlers during a two-year stay at the Bescot Stadium.

The Posh have also signed midfielder Harrison Jones on a three-year deal from Sunderland.

Plymouth Argyle

The Pilgrims have signed Alex Hartridge from Burton Albion, with the defender having spent a season with the Brewers, where he featured 45 times.

Argyle have also recruited fellow defender Wes Harding from Millwall on a permanent deal, who spent the second half of last term on loan at Home Park.

Stevenage

The Boro have made Olly Sanderson their first summer recruit, with the forward joining from Fulham.

The 22-year-old had loan spells with Oxford City, Sutton United, Bradford City, Harrogate Town and Woking during his time with the Cottagers.

Stockport County

The Hatters have recruited Ryan Glover from Barnet for an undisclosed fee, with the winger penning a three-year deal at Edgeley Park.

The 25-year-old was named player of the season in both of his campaigns with the Bees, making 94 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals and providing 20 assists.

The Hatters have also signed defender Kyron Gordon from Rochdale, who contributed six goals and six assists from the backline in his side’s promotion-winning campaign last term.

Wigan Athletic

The Latics began their summer business with the signing of Max Power from Bradford City, who returns to the Brick Community Stadium for a third spell.

The 32-year-old previously played for the club between 2015 and 2019, and then 2021 to 2023, making 238 appearances across those stints.

Wycombe Wanderers

Conor Hazard has joined the Chairboys from Plymouth Argyle.

The goalkeeper spent three seasons with the Pilgrims, making 91 appearances in total.

The Chairboys have also recruited fellow stopper Matt Macey from Colchester United, after featuring 98 times for the U’s over the past two seasons.
