With fall on the horizon, people tend to go all out during the final stretch of summer, spending time with friends and family and making the most of the remaining warm-weather events. At the same time, this often means downtime becomes more relaxed, as people recharge after a long day out. Thankfully, there is always the option for streaming, and Netflix has a few stand-out originals dropping next month that fans will want to check out.
These three titles comprise the most anticipated movies arriving on Netflix in August 2025. Below, you will find a comprehensive list of all films, including both original titles and older releases, that will be coming to the platform.
‘My Oxford Year’
A Charming Romantic Romp Streaming on August 1
My Oxford Year follows Anna De La Vega (Sofia Carson), an ambitious American student who has her life planned down to the minutest detail. This begins with accomplishing her dream of studying at London’s Oxford University for a year-long graduate program, a prerequisite for working at Goldman Sachs. But her plans are quickly upended when she meets Jamie Davenport, a charming local who turns out to be her poetry teacher. As the two become romantically entwined, Anna begins to question her strictly regimented life.

‘Fixed’ (2025)
A Mature Animated Comedy Streaming on August 13
A new adult animated Netflix original film, Fixed follows Bull, a happy-go-lucky pooch that suddenly learns of his impending neutering. Thrown into an existential crisis, Bull then sees his last 24 hours with his family jewels, affectionately named “Old Spice” and “Napoleon,” as an excuse to have as much fun as possible. This leads him into a night of hijinks and debauchery, including brawls with rival dogs at the park and a wild visit to a strip club.
Adult-rated, sexually charged comedies are certainly a niche, with shows like Big Mouth attracting praise and disdain in equal measure, and we are not just talking about the disappointing finale. Where Fixed looks to impress is in bringing the creative genius of Genndy Tartakovsky, known for works like Samurai Jack and Primal, ensuring that this will be a unique addition to the Netflix Originals catalog. Additionally, the voice acting cast is terrific, featuring Adam Devine as Bull and notable names like Idris Elba and Fred Armisen in supporting roles. Fixed is streaming on August 13.

‘The Thursday Murder Club’ (2025)
An Ensemble Comedy/Mystery Streaming on August 28
Based on a series of books by Richard Osman, The Thursday Murder Club follows a group of four distinguished seniors, Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), and Joyce (Celia Imrie), who enjoy spending their evenings trying to solve old cases. Things take a dire turn, though, when a shady property dealer turns up dead at their retirement community, pushing them to take their hobby into practice as they try to solve the case and become personally involved.
What is most striking about The Thursday Murder Club is its cast; how can one not be excited by four icons of cinema coming together for a Netflix Original film? The movie will appeal to those who love British wit laced with a bit of dark comedy. The trailer certainly gives off charm in abundance, and The Thursday Murder Club might very much be the surprise Netflix chart topper when it drops on August 28.
