Ian Franklin, 33, twice stabbed Greg Marshall, 35, in the lungs as he struck him with a knife at least 13 times in the early hours of August 17 last year, Leeds Crown Court heard.
One of the stabs went through a lung into the heart of the York father. He managed to get away from the murderer, but collapsed in a nearby alleyway and was declared dead shortly afterwards.
A pathologist later found 13 knife wounds on his body.
The jury at Leeds Crown Court took three and a half hours to reach its unanimous verdicts of guilty on every charge Franklin faced.
They convicted him of murder, wounding fellow defendant Jason Rhodes and carrying a blade in public. Franklin, of Roche Avenue, off Huntington Road, York, had denied all charges.
Judge Robin Mairs adjourned sentence.
Rhodes, 33, of no fixed address, was acquitted of carrying a knife in public. He will be sentenced later today for a separate offence of carrying a blade in public.
