Is this the ‘most well-used off-grid free toilet in York’?

I LAUGHED out loud when I read of the proposal by York Bid to make one of York’s renowned walkways safer by installing more lighting.

Le Kyrk Lane running between Peter Lane and High Ousegate is probably the most well used “off grid” free toilet in York.

The place absolutely stinks of urine.

York Bid would be better installing at each end of the passage turnstiles with a 40p charge – the same as charged in Silver Street – and have an attendant spraying the lane with disinfectant regularly.

Anything Trump can do – so can we

EVEN I have been amazed at the speed and determination Donald Trump has brought to getting the policies he was elected on into force.

Of course the world’s liberal elites are having an absolute meltdown as even their attempts to use the judiciary to overturn the policies that won a democratic mandate are falling flat.

The key message for us though is clear. The next time you hear our politicians saying they are going to do something, or that they want to do something it’s just that they can’t, they are simply lying.

On the immigration issue in particular, Trump has shown you can deport the illegals quite easily.

The real reason we don’t do the same is not because we can’t but because our political elites don’t want to and they don’t care about the fact we expect them to.

It’s time we started following the USA lead and begin a purge of our entire political class too as they can no longer hide behind excuses of why things can’t be done, not now that proof to the contrary is on every news broadcast from across the pond.

… Well, we’re still here in this early phase of that blockbuster, ‘Trump 2’!

As straws sway in the wind I try to clutch a few. It might not be so bad as many feared. There might actually be some good to arise out of Mr Trump’s election victory and subsequent regime. Time will tell. Meanwhile I’ll carry on clutching!

Even during the Inauguration there were shafts of light. One that stands out for me shone from the quiet, gracious, but straight-talking Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde. Preaching in the National Cathedral, Washington DC, in the presence of President Trump, in a quiet and measured way she spoke of a lot of frightened people out there and went on to enumerate some who didn’t fit the Trumpian template. Brave woman, as she told truth to power.

So despite degrees of apprehension ranging from nervousness to fear, there’s hope.

Let’s trust that in four years time, the USA and the rest of the world will reflect on a possibly unexpected amount of good that emanated from ‘Trump Mk 2’ with the world a better place.

A listening, humble, chastened, honest, balanced, principled Trump would be nice. Readers may care to add to this list. To help ensure this objective how about an ‘International Finger-crossing Day’?

CRAFTY aren’t they! Apologise for taking away the heating allowance – but a nice rise in pensions in spring will be a lovely benefit.

So up goes council tax, electric and now water bills.
