The attacker has netted nine goals in 14 appearances for the Latics
Huddersfield Town forward Joe Taylor has been left “really pleased” with his form at Wigan Athletic with the striker having an impressive goal return during his loan spell to date.
The attacker has netted nine goals in 14 appearances for the Latics after joining the fellow League One outfit on loan from Town in January.
Taylor struck seven times for the Terriers in 27 appearances in the first part of the season, but having featured off the bench on 16 occasions, the forward departed on loan in pursuit of more game time.
Reflecting on his campaign, Taylor told Sky Sports: “I think I struggled at the start of the season to really find that form, whether that be through just being unlucky, or not really having the opportunity to do that, but thankfully coming here, I’ve really hit the ground running, and I’m really pleased with my form.
“Football’s a mad old game. If you’d have asked me at the start of the season that I’d be going out on loan in January, I would have probably have laughed at you, but at the same time, football can change overnight, and it did in my case, and if I’m being brutally honest, it probably worked out better for me.
“One thing that I’ve always said is that I’m a player that’s at his best when playing regular football, so that’s boxing off games, 90 minutes, week in week out. I think here, I just took my opportunity when it came, and never really looked back.”
Taylor, who has netted in each of his last three games, will look to continue his goalscoring form when Wigan take on Town’s play-off rivals Reading in League One on Saturday, with his loan side currently sitting 19th in the table and three points above the drop zone.
