THE Viking Poo Week during the Jorvik Viking Festival looks very interesting, but will it include a stroll around the verges and footpaths near the city centre?
Include the snickleways, passages and private hidden corners in the York city centre and it is certain to be an eye opener for many citizens and visitors who have to keep at least one eye focusing where to placing your feet.

Archbishop of York should have resigned
PETER Rickaby may be a non-conformist but that does not make his opinion that Stephen Cotterill has proved unfit to remain in office invalid.
It is an opinion shared by many many other people, including lots of clergy.
If Cotterill examined his past actions, or lack of them, he should have resigned months ago.
I doubt any of the sadly abused would disagree with Mr Rickaby.

Trump has only gotten started
THE current UK government will soon be nine months old, perhaps not quite long enough to make a fair assessment, though after a year the verdicts will understandably flow thick and fast.
Meanwhile, in the USA, the Trump regime has only clocked up a few weeks so far. Our transition from Conservative to Labour almost feels like business as usual compared with its US equivalent where it’s a case of all change though not necessarily in a good way.
“Flippin’ heck!” Trump and his acolytes (known as ‘Trumpets’) have really set the cat among the pigeons.
Big time; and they’ve only just gotten started.
Never in the history of the human race has a carrot wielded such power! Pause for thought; I’m glad I live in Britain!

Great news from Labour on waiting lists
AFTER 14 years of Tory cuts and record breaking industrial action that they wouldn’t even negotiate about, how good is it to see Labour’s pledge to provide two million more NHS appointments delivered a full seven months early despite all of the doom, gloom, and fake news spread by right wing media.
Add to this the fact that NHS waiting lists are finally coming down after all those years of the Conservative Party’s incompetence and all is clear that Wes Streeting has done in five months what the likes of endless in-fighting Tory health secretaries couldn’t do in a full term of five years.
Not that you would believe a word the Tories said anyway after Boris Johnson’s blatant lies about 40 new hospitals.

Help our hospices
OUR nation’s hospices provide essential, compassionate care to individuals and families in life’s most difficult moments, but meeting rising demand remains a significant challenge.
Some 30,000 people every year wouldn’t receive hospice care without income from gifts in wills. With a rapidly ageing population and increasing pressure on the hospice sector, this figure is set to rise without urgent action.
Our research finds 71 per cent of the public believe hospices deserve more support, yet only 27 per cent have considered leaving a gift to charity in their will.
This gap highlights the urgent need for greater awareness around the life-changing impact of legacy giving.
We’re uniting with 143 British hospices to urge people to consider leaving a gift to their chosen hospice charity in their will, no matter the size. Together we can make our legacies count, and help ensure everyone who needs hospice care, receives it. Now and for generations to come.
