Mr Charters asked a Keir Starmer a question at Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons today (January 29) about paternity leave and announced the news that he and wife, Beth have another child on the way.
Beth teaches at Lord Deramore’s School and their son, Robin, is named after Robin Parmiter, one of Mr Charter’s former teachers at Huntington School in the city. The new baby is due in early July.
“I couldn’t be prouder of Beth.
“I asked the Prime Minister about the recent report from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation report highlighting that improving paternity leave could add £2.6 billion to the economy,” said Mr Starmer.
“I welcomed the Prime Minister’s kind words about the incoming arrival of my second child.
“I was reassured by his commitment to conducting a review into paternity leave, supporting parents, and in turn boosting economic growth.”
Mr Starmer said: “I wish Luke and his wife well with the new arrival.
“We are conducting a review into paternity leave because you can’t grow the economy if parents have to choose between work and children.”
