Many friends are preparing for big walk in Yorkshire in memory of kind and witty man
Friends of a much-missed Huddersfield Town fan are preparing for a big walk to raise money for a special cause in his memory.
Several friends of David Major, who died in January aged 43, along with his nephew Adam, are due to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks on June 12 to raise money for Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity. The 24-mile circular route usually takes up to 12 hours to complete.
Adam has already raised more than £200 of his £1,000 target on a Just Giving page which can be found here. Several Town fans have already donated to the fund.
Writing on the page, Adam explained why they had chosen Andy’s Man Club. He said: “On 19th January 2026, we tragically lost my uncle, David Major, to his long standing mental health battle.
“David was loved by everyone he knew – his, family, friends, colleagues and within the Huddersfield Town community, which became his happy place for the majority of his 43 year life.
“Andy’s Man Club played a massive role in David’s life, supporting him through his own internal battles, for which we will all forever be grateful.
“On Friday 12th June, myself and multiple friends of David will be walking to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, aiming to summit Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough to raise money for Andy’s Man Club to help them continue the incredible work they do for men’s mental health.”
Following David’s death, tributes were shared across social media where he was described as being kind, selfless and witty, as well as a big fan of Huddersfield Town.
David, of Fenay Bridge, Huddersfield, was a season ticket holder at Huddersfield and attended home and away games for many years. He had previously produced video blogs about the club’s ups and downs from a fan’s perspective.
He was a former pupil at Almondbury High School and Huddersfield New College.
