Afrobeats continues to be the heartbeat of Africa’s music scene, and this week’s releases are no exception, setting the tone for what promises to be a summer of sonic brilliance. Among the standout drops are “Luvaluvah” by Nigerian rap heavyweight Olamide and “S.M.O” by genre-blending Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae. Though worlds apart in sound—one a gritty, poetic return to lyrical roots, the other a high-energy anthem of dancefloor liberation—both tracks highlight the expansive creative range fueling today’s Afrobeats movement. Their contrast, rather than dividing, speaks to the genre’s evolving richness, where tradition and experimentation thrive side by side.
As fresh releases continue to pour in from some of the most exciting names in African music, one thing is clear: artists are leaning into innovation like never before. This week’s drops span the sonic spectrum—from nostalgic highlife-inspired grooves to hard-hitting club bangers—each track pulsing with cultural pride, rhythmic sophistication, and unapologetic lyrical confidence. Below is a curated round-up of the hottest Afrobeats songs released this week that deserve a spot on your playlist right now.
Here’s a look at the top Afrobeats songs released this week you absolutely need to check out…
#1. Olamide – Luvaluvah
Marking a powerful return to the spotlight, Olamide’s “Luvaluvah” reaffirms why he remains one of Nigeria’s most revered rap figures. Pulled from his newly released self-titled album, the track fuses gritty street sensibilities with polished production, spotlighting his signature mastery of cadence and storytelling. As the fourth track on the 17-song project, “Luvaluvah” sets a formidable tone—its provocative lyrics and infectious beat bridging the raw authenticity of traditional rap with the vibrancy of contemporary Afrobeats. Both nostalgic and forward-facing, it’s a statement piece that doesn’t just mark a comeback—it signals an evolution.
#2. Amaarae – S.M.O
Amaarae has always defied genre, and her latest single “S.M.O” (short for “Slut Me Out”) is no different. This time, the Ghanaian-American alté-pop star serves up a bold sonic cocktail—blending ’80s Ghanaian highlife, Detroit club bass, Magic System-inspired drums, and infectious zouk melodies. The result? A track that’s as sensual as it is addictive. “S.M.O.” also leads the charge for her upcoming album Black Star, set to drop on August 8. Meanwhile, the Omar Jones-directed video—shot in Ghana—is a visual feast, radiating the same vibrant, rebellious energy as the song itself.
#3. Victony – Glory
Victony’s “Glory” is a smooth yet vibrant anthem that extends his impressive streak in 2025. Once again, he proves his gift for blending Afrobeats and Afro-pop with ease. This time, he leans into melodic finesse and lyrical depth, crafting a track that radiates both hope and strength. It’s the kind of song that lifts your spirits, whether you’re dancing or simply soaking it in. Following the success of his acclaimed single “Ave Maria,” “Glory” reinforces Victony’s place as one of the genre’s most emotionally resonant voices.
