Stephen May will discuss his new historical novel, ‘Green Ink,’ at Pickering Book Tree next month.
The book, May’s seventh, treats of Victor Grayson, a former MP for Calder Valley, whose sudden disappearance is woven into a ‘whodunnit’-style mystery.
Grayson, described by a spokesperson as a “firebrand socialist,” threatened to expose prime minister David Lloyd George’s involvement in the 1922 Cash for Patronage scandal.
He was also a secret-service informant who had “made enemies with prominent characters in the revolutionary left.”
A spokesperson added: “Picked as one of the best books of 2025 so far by the Times newspaper, ‘Green Ink’ is a well-researched, stylish, and clever imagining of what could have happened to this most intriguing of political outsiders.”
Stephen May will be in conversation at Pickering Book Tree on Tuesday, April 8, at 7.30pm.
