A STAGE adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley will open in Cheltenham.
The Everyman Theatre will host the production, marking the first time this adaptation has toured the UK.
It is set to debut at the venue on Thursday, September 4.
The show is adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher and is produced by Jack Maple and Thomas Hopkins.
The play is based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel of the same name, which was published 70 years ago and served as the inspiration for the 2000 film starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The story follows the character of Tom Ripley, whose life takes a dramatic twist when he is given the chance to travel to Italy to bring back the wealthy Dickie Greenleaf.
As the plot unfolds, Ripley becomes entangled in a world of deception and murder.
Set against the backdrop of 1950s Italy, the production aims to deliver a unique experience of the novel through its stage adaptation.
The play is presented by Faction, a production company with a portfolio that includes Macbeth at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, and My Last Duchess, a film commissioned by The Lowry.
It boasts a talented team, including Holly Piggott, who will handle set and costume design, Zeynep Kepekli managing lighting design and Max Pappenheim overseeing sound design.
Casting for the show is yet to be announced.
The Talented Mr Ripley at the Everyman Theatre will run from Thursday, September 4 to Saturday, September 13.
The production is part of a broader UK tour, which comes as a celebration of the novel’s 70th anniversary.
Tickets for the show are available through the Everyman Theatre’s website.
