In an update addressed to supporters, York majority co-owners Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla have revealed that season ticket sales have surpassed their previous highest-ever amount at the LNER Community Stadium.
The news comes just 24 hours after it was confirmed that City had sold out their home allocation for the upcoming play-off semi-final on Tuesday, May 20 (7.45pm).
Season ticket sales currently stand at 2,967, whilst supporters who purchase season tickets before May 16 will continue to pay £350 for Adults (£15.21 per game), £275 for Concessions (£11.96 per game), £120 for 12-16s/Students (£5.22 per game) and £50 for Under 11s (£2.17 per game).
Concessionary tickets again apply to those over the age of 65.
General sale season ticket prices for Adults, Concessions, 12-16s and Students will increase from May 17.
The price of Under 11 tickets will still remain frozen through this period, as will season ticket renewals.
Tickets will be priced at £400 for Adults (£17.40 per game), £325 for Concessions (£14.13 per game), £150 for 12-16s/Students (£6.52 per game) and £50 for Under 11s (£2.17 per game).
From June 27, all seats will be released onto general sale at the standard pricing rate.
The Uggla’s also confirmed that they were exploring the possibility of improving the club website, after supporters faced difficulties in purchasing tickets for the play-off semi-final.
For those who missed out on tickets, conversations are taking place for a local venue to show the semi-final in York City centre, to allow supporters to congregate and still be a part of the atmosphere.
Finally, the Uggla’s also declared that they are looking at options alongside the Stadium Management Company (SMC) to launch a potential loyalty system for fans.
Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla said on the club website: “First of all, we would like to pay tribute to our fantastic and ever-growing fanbase.
“The demand for tickets yesterday is something we could have only dreamed of when we bought the club back in summer 2023.
“From queuing outside the stadium at 7am, the 2,500+ trying to access the website and the sound of the phone ringing at every opportunity shows us just how valuable you all are to the future of this club.
“We know that a lot of you will be extremely disappointed in being unable to secure tickets for our semi-final game.
“We share your frustration, but unfortunately, our website infrastructure was not built to be able to withstand the sheer number of supporters in one go.
“We inherited this website in 2023, and following on from yesterday’s disappointment, we are already exploring the potential to upgrade our servers to avoid that from ever happening again.
“For this, we can only apologise.
“Although the disappointment of yesterday may be a lot to some, we have to stick together and look to the positives.
“The fact that we could potentially have sold out the LNER twice over is a real testament to just how much you, as the supporters, have bought into us as a club, as well as your belief in Adam, the coaching staff and all of the players.
“Because of this, we have spoken with a local venue to potentially set up a live screening in York City centre to allow supporters unable to go to the game to still congregate in a fan environment.
“As a club, we are very proud to say we have just exceeded our record season ticket sales in our current ground with now 2,967 of you all committing to the club for next season!
“In this next chapter, whatever league that might be, we are exploring options alongside the SMC to launch a potential loyalty system for supporters.
“Such a system has not been necessary in the past, but we all know just how much this fanbase and club are growing, and we understand the need for one in the future.
“We would finally like to address you, as the fans.
“We hear every single one of you, on social media or in person. Every one of you has a voice for this football club.
“Up the Minstermen!”
