IT would appear that John Taylor in Wednesday’s Press puts the blame for the traffic congestion on the A64 on pensioners and their cars – shame on you.
He is obviously not that observant.
The biggest user of this road is commercial traffic and holiday traffic.
The problems occur when this road goes from dual carriageway to single and the drivers of vehicles who can’t merge in turn and Must Get In Front( MGIFs), only to sit behind a HGV for the next eight miles or so, then repeat the same process at Crambeck and Scagglethorpe.
There is a need for dualling this road and its far overdue.
As a closing note, try going westbound from Barton Hill to Hopgrove, it’s like a car park, caused by people who have nothing better to do on a Sunday but go shopping in York.

Some thoughts of Reeves, Putin and the council…
ACCORDONG to Chancellor Reeves, if we survive to the end of the decade everything will be fine, wealth for everyone. Politicians are renowned for making outlandish promises knowing the chances of them reaching fruition are about the same as a current club in Division Two winning the Premier League in the same time span, shame we cant all hibernate for the next five years and wake up to find Labour’s net zero financial utopia has thankfully come to the same end as the Titanic.
Trumps boasts of ending the Ukraine / Russia war within days of taking office is proving to be nothing but wild empty rhetoric. Putin is showing himself to be far more adroit in world affairs, quietly leading Trump up the garden path. It could be of course that Putin knows more about Trumps private and business life that is known to the rest of us.
City of York Council has decided to spend valuable time debating a Government decision regarding cuts to disability benefits which is certainly not in their remit, York’s MPs have that responsibility in Parliament, not them. They are elected to ensure wheelie bins are collected on time, pot holes are repaired, rates reduced, services improved, which to over bloated egos may appear mundane but is their actual purpose, not to poke their noses into national affairs over which they have no influence.

Where is this?
THIS place once stood for hope, opportunity, fairness, decency and truth. Now it is split down the middle, full of anger, despair, lies, misinformation, more racism, odd beliefs, extremes, police brutality, even more guns, bully like politics, misguided views on foreigners, horrendous weather, escalating crime, many anxious women, seething resentments, unsteady leadership !
Is your answer to my question the same as mine ?

Follow Trump’s lead
COUNCILLOR Vassie has misplaced sympathy for the multiple tattooed murderous gang members deported in chains by the US.
We should do the same to illegals here that have been refused entry and why we taxpayers finance their appeals to only enrich lawyers is beyond me.
Let’s leave the European Court of Justice and make our own decisions on deportees and actually get them out of the country.
The Rwanda scheme was money well spent and only cancelled because it was a Tory idea well worth trying.
In spite of Starmer promises, there are more illegals than ever before.

Osbaldwick
